Pakistan team jumped up to the second position in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League after defeating New Zealand in the first ODI of three-match home series in Karachi on Monday. 

Babar Azam XI outplayed New Zealand in home conditions, beating them by six wickets. 

After this win, Pakistan climbed up to the second position just after the Kiwis. 

Opting to bowl first in the series opener, Pakistan restricted New Zealand to 255 runs before chasing down the target in 48.1 overs.

Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan scored a half-century each to help Pakistan chase down 256 runs.

Pakistan will now play second ODI against New Zealand on January 11. The last ODI of the series will be played on January 13. 

If Pakistan win series 3-0, they will be on top of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.
