Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is closing in on another record as the year 2023 draws to a close.
Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, has scored 51 goals for club and country in 2023. The Portuguese is only one goal behind Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane — who both have 52 goals each.
Kane and Mbappe are finished for the year but Ronaldo still have two more games left with Al Nassr.
Apart from the goals, Ronaldo has also provided 15 assists in the 57 matches he has played this year.
After his goal against Al-Ettifaq on Friday, the 38-year-old Ronaldo now has 500 goal contributions since turning 30.
However, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has scored 50 goals this year, still has an outside chance of going past Ronaldo since he also has two games left this year.
Although, the Norwegian striker is back in training after he missed the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, due to a foot injury, but he is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes in the remaining matches of the year.

Kylian Mbappe - 52 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo - 51 goals
Erling Haaland - 50 goals
If Ronaldo scores two more goals this year, he will go past Kane and Haaland in terms of the most number of goals scored this year.
Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, who are placed second in the league, will take on Al-Ittihad tomorrow, meanwhile their final match of the season is against Al-Taawoun.
On the other hand, Manchester City will face Everton and Sheffield United in their last two matches of the year.
