England’s opening batter Phil Salt has made history by surpassing the previous record set by Pakistan's wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, for the highest number of runs in a bilateral T20I series.

In the recently concluded T20I series against the West Indies, Salt displayed outstanding form, consistently delivering exceptional performances with the bat. Although his impressive run-scoring spree couldn't lead England to victory in the series, it did earn him the distinction of breaking Rizwan’s record.

In a series filled with intense clashes between England and West Indies, Salt's ability to consistently find gaps and play aggressive strokes set him apart. His innings were characterised by precision, power, and a diverse range of shots that kept the opposition bowlers on edge.

The English opener's remarkable scores of 40, 25, 109*, 119, and 38 not only showcase his individual brilliance but also highlight the team's dependence on his contributions at the top of the order. His capability to hold the innings together and accelerate when needed turned out to be a crucial factor in England's comeback during the five-match series.

Despite trailing 2-0 initially, England fought back to level the T20I leg, only to lose the deciding match by four wickets on December 21.

Salt was awarded the 'Player of the Series' title for his brilliant batting display.
