KARACHI: Pakistan’s star player Nasir Iqbal continued his winning run in Australia as he bagged another Squash title, Bega Open 2024, on Sunday.

Iqbal defeated Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai in the final with scores of 11-6, 11-1 and 11-3 and lifted his career’s 17th title which included the prize money of $12,000.

The Pakistani star has been performing greatly and he carried on his exceptional display in the final as well as the match ended after just 24 minutes.

This was Iqbal’s fourth title on Australian soil. He previously claimed titles at the Tasmanian Open Squash Championship, Bendigo International and Shepparton Open and reached the semi-final of the Victoria Open.

He has now won four out of the last five tournaments he played in and will now travel to Malaysia to participate in the events.

Last month, Iqbal won the Tasmanian Open Squash Championship, which also took place in Australia.

Iqbal defeated Switzerland’s David Barnett 3-1 with the scores of 11-8, 12-10, 6-11 and 11-5.

That achievement followed his notable appearance in the final of the CNS Squash Championship held in Karachi earlier this year.
