KARACHI: Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Adelaide Strikers have made contact with Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan to play in the upcoming 13th season, starting from December 7, Geo News reported.
As per the details, the Strikers are looking for a replacement of Rashid Khan, who withdrew from the league due to minor surgery on his lower back. The Strikers believe Shadab could be a perfect replacement.
However, the 25-year-old has not accepted the offer yet and looking for recommendations on whether he should accept or not.
Reportedly, Shadab is contemplating prioritising the domestic season over the Australian league.
In the past, Shadab has represented Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Hobart Hurricanes.
The Strikers get their BBL campaign underway on Saturday, December 9, facing the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval.
Earlier, former Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim joined Melbourne Stars, who already snapped two Pakistanis, Haris Rauf and Usama Mir, in the draft.
Imad, 34, who previously represented Melbourne Renegades in the league, is set to don the green jersey of Stars after Christmas for the remainder of the tournament.
"With Liam Dawson available for the first three matches, we identified Imad as a player who could come in and perform a role for us with his left-arm spin and lengthen our batting lineup," said Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of Pakistan fans in the crowd at the MCG with Imad joining his former national teammates, Usama Mir and Haris Rauf," Blair added.
Imad’s inclusion in the BBL side came just days after announcing his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect as the left-handed batter stated that he only wanted to focus on league cricket from now.
