Arsenal will take on Liverpool in their 18th match of the Premier League (PL) at Anfield on Saturday and the match is of utmost importance to both sides.
Liverpool are ranked second in the PL standings with 38 points in 17 matches while Mikel Arteta’s men are placed first with 39 points in as many games.
The Gunners would not just aim to keep their first spot with a win over Jurgen Klopp’s troops, but they would also be looking forward to registering their first win at Liverpool’s fortress since 2012.
The two sides have clashed a whopping 239 times where Liverpool emerged victorious in 94 games while Arsenal could only grab a win in 82 matches, the remaining encounters ended in a tie.
Arsenal have also failed to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool in their last 15 matches and have conceded a total of 43 goals, something that would surely be a great confidence booster for Mo Salah and his attacking partners.
Klopp will be without some of his key players as Alexis Mac-Allister has been ruled out due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip, and Andy Robertson are long-term absentees but despite missing many of his first-team troops, the German has managed well as The Reds topped their UEFA Europa League group and are in the title race as well.
On the other hand, Arteta will have the required prowess to break The Anfield Curse however, Jorginho is a doubt with a foot injury while Thomas Partey could appear as a substitute. Meanwhile, Mohamed Elneny, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fabio Vieira, and Jurrien Timber will not be in the squad.
