Vinicius Jr scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid beat FC Barcelona 4-1 in the Spanish Super Cup Final on Sunday at the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Real were on top throughout the game against last year's champions, who were clueless in front of Vinicius and ended the match with 10 men. Defender Ronald Araujo was sent off for a second yellow in the 71st minute after two fouls on the Brazilian.
Vinicius notched up early goals in the seventh and 10th minutes before Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit in the 33rd.
Vinicius mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo's celebration after scoring the opener.
Vinicius extended Real's advantage in the 39th minute from the penalty spot, after being fouled by Araujo inside the box.
In the second half, Rodrygo struck Real's fourth from a rebound in the 64th minute.
Carlo Ancelotti has now won 11 trophies as Real Madrid's manager.
"We have started the game very well. Vinicius was inspired tonight. We have deserved to win. All the players were motivated, we showed it on the pitch," Ancelotti said after the match.
Real Madrid have scored 10 goals in their last three games against Barcelona.
Xavi is the eighth Barcelona manager to concede four or more goals in at least two games against Real Madrid in the entire history of the side, the first since Frank Rijkaard (4-2 in April 2005 and 4-1 in May 2008).
"The upcoming days will be hard with a lot of criticism, but you have to accept it," Xavi said.
"There's disappointment and sadness. We have not been comfortable at any time, we have been dominated. I apologise to the fans because we have shown a poor display. Barca will return.
"I have congratulated Carlo Ancelotti, always with respect and sportsmanship. Madrid have been fair champions. Nothing more."
Real Madrid won the competition for the 13th time, avenging last year's final defeat by record 14-time winners Barcelona.
