Former MMA star Daniel Cormier revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov rejected a whopping $40m deal to make his UFC return.

Khabib called time on his UFC career in 2020 with an impressive 29-0 record after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and there have been rumours of the Russian’s return to the octagon since then.

Recently, Cormier revealed that Khabib, who was the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, rejected a massive deal to return to UFC.

“Khabib told us he turned down $40 million. He said $40 million, the dude said $40 million. To come back, to fight in the UFC,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.

“I don't know how many fights he was meaning, I don't what event. He just said, 'I turned away $40 million brother, I'm done’”

Nurmagomedov’s coach, Javier Mendez recently responded to rumours that the Russian could return for UFC 300.

“I’m just letting you guys know that you know, stop all this nonsense [on the internet] regarding Khabib [coming back to the UFC] and me and him training,” Mendez said.

“There’s been no such thing happening. We’re not discussing training. We never have. Khabib is still devoted to what he said [about not fighting again].

“He’s devoted his time to his family. He’s not working people’s corners. He’s not gonna ever fight. To my knowledge, it has never been spoken about,” he continued.

Earlier, UFC President Dana White revealed that Justin Gaethje will compete against Max Holloway for the BMF title at UFC 300, and Jim Miller will face Bobby Green on the card.

The historic event is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 14. It was previously confirmed that Zhang Weili would challenge Yan Xiaonan for the women's strawweight title, and now an additional championship bout has been added.

The bout will be a five-round contest held in the lightweight division. Two seasoned fighters, crowd favourite Jim Miller and Bobby Green, will also go head-to-head in Vegas as the UFC celebrates its triple century of events on Saturday, April 14.
