Mirpurkhaas Tigers have won the first edition of the Sindh Premier League (SPL) after beating Hyderabad Bahadurs by 79 runs in the final at the National Bank Arena in Karachi.
Tigers, led by Umar Amin posted 175/7 after opting to bat first. Bahadurs were unable to keep up with the final chase and only managed to score 96.
While setting up the total, skipper Amin contributed significantly with 32 runs off 20 balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Haseeb Ullah showcased an impressive performance, scoring 44 runs off 33 balls with a strike rate of 133.33
Qasim Akram added 18 runs in 15 balls but was bowled out by Mohammad Faizan. Asif Ali, on the other hand, could only manage 6 runs in 5 balls before being caught by Hassan Nawaz off Mohammad Faizan's delivery.
Danish Aziz contributed 22 runs off 16 balls, including one boundary and one six, before getting run out by Irfan Khan Niazi. Yaqoob Jan displayed some notable batting skills, scoring 24 runs off 16 balls with a strike rate of 150.
Mohammad Faizan picked two wickets and was the standout bowler for Bahadurs while Jahandad Khan and captain Anwar bagged one each.
In reply to the Tigers' total, Sajjad Ali (26) and Hassan Nawaz (24) started well individually to keep Bahadurs' hopes alive but none of the other batters contributed, leading the Tigers to win by a big margin.
Mystery spinner Usman Tariq bowled only three overs and picked a fifer. While Yaqoob Jan finished with figures of 3/25.
