Former spinner Harbhajan Singh thinks that India must groom wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson as Rohit Sharma's successor in T20I cricket.

Harbhajan's praise came after Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets on Monday, April 22 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Samson has been leading Rajasthan for the last few years and under him, the side is currently at the top of the IPL 2024 points table. They have registered seven wins in eight games and apart from their loss against Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan have been on top of their game.

Harbhajan mentioned that there should be no doubt on Samson to be India's wicketkeeper-batter in the 2024 T20 World Cup which is scheduled in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA).

“Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock is a proof of class is permanent, Form is temporary," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"And there shouldn’t be any debate about keeper batter. Sanju Samson should walk into the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and also be groomed as the next T20 captain for India after Rohit," he added.

Remember, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sandeep Sharma shone brightly as RR moved closer to the IPL 2024 playoffs with a convincing nine-wicket victory over MI.

Yuzvendra Chahal reached his milestone of 200 IPL wickets as MI appeared poised for another low total against RR. Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera then steadied the innings, mounting a counter-attack with their 99-run partnership.

However, MI suffered another collapse with Sandeep taking three wickets in the final over, achieving a memorable 5-wicket haul to limit Mumbai to 179 for 9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan had an ideal start from Jaiswal and Buttler, who accumulated 61 runs in the initial six overs before a rain interruption.

Although Buttler was dismissed shortly after play resumed, Jaiswal assumed responsibility for the chase, securing his second century in his IPL career and the second against MI.
