Deeney failed to score any points while being quizzed on his 'specialist subject' - BBC

Troy Deeney appeared on Celebrity Mastermind and didn't get a single question right in his chosen subject.

Yesterday, Deeney managed his first game, steering Forest Green Rovers to a 0-0 draw against Gillingham in League Two.

However, rather than focusing on Deeney's managerial debut, the internet was more intrigued by his poor performance on Celebrity Mastermind.

During the episode, which clashed with Forest Green's match, Deeney failed to score any points while being quizzed on his 'specialist subject'.

The 35-year-old selected to answer questions solely about Sam Raimi's Spiderman film trilogy but couldn't manage a correct response.

Despite the embarrassment, Deeney took it in good spirits, laughing as he left the stage.

“That chair, this atmosphere,” host Clive Myrie said after Deeney’s round.

“It's intense,” Deeney agreed before Myrie announced he had finished with “no points”.

Deeney performed better in the general knowledge round, securing the six points needed to secure third place, trailing behind winner OJ Borg and runner-up Jasmine Harman.

Earlier this week, Deeney assumed his initial managerial role at Forest Green following Dave Horseman's dismissal.

The forward initially joined the club as a player-coach in August but was elevated to the head position due to the League Two team's precarious position, facing relegation to non-league after a series of seven matches with just one victory.

Deeney had previously overseen Monday sessions, dedicating the rest of the week to player training. However, he has now assumed full-time responsibilities, given Forest Green's 23rd position in the table.

“One thing I can assure everyone is that we will work our very hardest to bring this wonderful club back to success,” said Deeney.

“This is an exciting new role with many challenges that I’ll embrace. And there’s a lot of work for us to do, which has already started.”
