England have won two T20 World Cup titles with their first in 2010 and second in 2022. This makes them the defending champions in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 being hosted by the USA and the West Indies.

Harry Brook, a player with experience of representing England in two World Cups (2022 T20 World Cup and 2023 Cricket World Cup), is adamant that England can retain the title.

"Everybody's really excited. We fancy our chances. We've got a very good side, good squad depth around T20 cricket and we're confident we can bring it home again," the batter said as quoted by The Guardian.

The English team arrived in the West Indies ahead of their clash with Scotland on Tuesday, June 4 at the Kensington Oval Barbados.

When asked if anything England need to change or do extra than what they did in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Brook replied, “[We need to] be a bit more relaxed; probably stay in the moment a little bit more, as a group and personally. We weren’t in a great space at the time. The way we started wasn’t great either. It wasn’t the best competition to be part of.”

As for Brook, he has been out of the recent Test series in India due to the death of his grandmother who was a big supporter of his cricket career.

“Obviously it wasn’t in great circumstances but I just tried to train as hard as possible; trying to lose a bit of weight and trying to get a bit leaner,” he said.

“Batting in the middle order, and running twos are going to be quite a big thing for my game. And in the field as well. I’ve been trying to get quicker at running over the last 12 to 18 months.”

England defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 final by five wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) under the captaincy of Jos Buttler.

In the 2024 T20 World Cup, England is placed with Scotland, Australia, Oman and Namibia in the Group B of the tournament.

The defending champions will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 journey against Scotland on June 4 in Barbados.
